Brighton & Hove Albion FC Chief Executive Paul Barber has told Sky Sports that a third player has tested positive for coronavirus. According to Barber;
“Despite all of the measures that we’ve been taking over the past few weeks, where the players haven’t been involved in any significant training at all, we’ve still suffered another player testing positive for the virus.”
According to the club, the unnamed player will now proceed on self isolate for 14 days.
For the past few weeks, Brighton players have been training individually at the training ground and the club say this will be allowed to continue.
Clubs in the English Premier League are expected to meet on Monday for more discussions about their proposed Project Restart plan.
The EPL was suspended mid-March due to the Coronavirus pandemic but there have increasing agitation by clubs for it’s resumption even behind closed doors in June to conclude the season.
Brighton is among other teams such as Watford and Aston Villa that has been against plans to playing the remaining league matches at neutral venues. A proposal that needs 14 of the 20 clubs to vote in favour for it to be adopted.
