Champions League Exit: Juventus sacks Maurizio Sarri

Serie A Champion, Juventus, have sacked Maurizio Sarri as head coach after just one season.

This comes after they were knocked out of the Champions League by Lyon at the round of last-16 last night.

Juventus won by 2 – 1 but were knocked out courtesy of away goal rule which favoured the French side.

Sarri, 61, few weeks ago guided Juventus to her ninth straight Serie A title. He was appointed last summer after one year at Premier League club Chelsea to succeed Massimiliano Allegri and he became the oldest manager to win Serie A title.

Prior to his sack, Juventus lost three of their last four league matches to finish only one point clear of Inter Milan in the end. They also lost the Coppa Italia final to Napoli.
