Ekiti State to partner with 54gene on COVID-19 mobile testing laboratory

The Ekiti State government has concluded plans to partner with 54gene on the roll-out of a mobile laboratory to facilitate COVID-19 testing in our state.

This was disclosed by the State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi today. According to the governor; “54gene has been accredited by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as one of the approved testing centres in its network.”

Governor Fayemi also noted that;

“The COVID-19 mobile lab will be fully equipped with vital testing instruments and biosafety materials to support COVID-19 testing. 54gene will also provide operational support and molecular scientists with the skill set required to handle the instruments in the mobile lab.

“The COVID-19 mobile lab will remain in the state even after the pandemic has been abated, to be utilized as a fully functional molecular laboratory. This will bolster our molecular testing capabilities within Ekiti state in the event of any future outbreak.”
