Free 100,000 Prepaid Meters distribution commences in Ibadan Zone Tomorrow

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company will tomorrow Monday, November 16, 2020 begin the distribution of free Prepaid Meters to customers as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari and provided for by the Federal Government in it’s free 1,000,000 prepaid Meters to Nigerians at no cost.

In a statement early this Month, President Buhari announced the first phase of the Presidential Mass Metering Initiative, which funds were already approved for the DisCos to roll out 1,000,000 Meters at no cost to consumers.

Prior to Ibadan Zonal distribution Kano, Kaduna, Lagos and Abuja zones have already started the distribution.

According to President Buhari; “Future phases of this Metering Initiative will help us fully meet the 6.5 million deficit of meters nationwide, and will impact an estimated 30 million consumers. All meters under this program will be sourced from local manufacturers and in-country stock, to create jobs.”

He further added;

“We are committed to ending estimated billing in all forms in Nigeria, and ensuring that Nigerians pay only for the electricity they consume.”
