The governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has launched an online homeschooling platform, [email protected], which will enable pupils from the State learn from resources downloadable from an online database while they are at home this period. The platform according to the governor will provide for downloads with zero-data access & free SMS supported by MTN Nigeria.
In the words of Gov. Obaseki;
“I launched the online homeschooling platform, [email protected], which will enable pupils learn from resources downloadable from an online database while they are at home this period. The platform provides for downloads with zero-data access & free SMS supported by MTN Nigeria.
In addition, the Governor highlighted the need for the platform as;
“The platform is part of steps taken by my administration to ensure academic engagement by pupils and students, who were supposed to have resumed for a new session on Monday, April 27, but would have to remain at home as a result of #COVID19 pandemic.
On the levels of preparedness by teachers and readiness of leaners, Gov. Obaseki said;
“We have acquainted over 280,000 children with technology-based learning model and trained 11,000 teachers and education managers on model digital teaching and learning methods.
The Edo State governor also listed some of the features of the platform to include;
“The [email protected] is comprised of interactive audio lessons with customized messaging, digital self-study activity packs, mobile-phone-based interactive quizzes, digital storybooks and virtually moderated teacher and student classroom interactions.
The governor concluded by reassuring the people of the State of his commitments “to the provision of quality education for all”, especially during this period of partial lockdown. Also that, “this platform would serve as an alternative source of schooling for our children.”
