Governor Okowa calls for review of existing revenue allocation formula

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has called for a review of the existing revenue allocation formula in favour of states and local governments to reflect the current socio-economic realities in the country.

Governor Okowa stated this during a courtesy call by the National Executive Council members of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) led by the National President, Mr Kolade Alabi, at the Government House, Asaba.

According to Dr. Okowa; “We need to re-work the revenue allocation formula as local government administration has taken up serious responsibilities like payment of local government council staff and primary school teachers salaries without providing necessary funds for them.”

Top government functionaries, including the Deputy Governor, were present during the visit.
