Helen Clark, former Prime Minister of New Zealand endorses Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for WTO job

Former Prime Minister of NewZealand, Helen Clark, has endorsed Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for the Director General of World Trade Organisation.

According to Helen Clark, the “World needs a functioning multilateral trade organisation. World Trade Organisation needs new DG with leadership skills to bring diverse nations together to resolve obstacles to completing a trade round & reform the organisation. Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala leadership skills are badly needed there”

“Definitely it’s time for a new broom WTO and one which brings senior leadership experience and skills to the job. Definitely it’s time for a new broom. Dr. Okonjo-Iweala’s decades of leadership experience in both Nigeria & World Bank make her uniquely qualified for this challenging position at this time,” she added.

In her response, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala said;

“Thank You so much, Helen Clark for your faith in my ability to Work with WTO members to move the organization forward. WTO is needed now more than ever to help the Multilateral Trading System work for all.”
