Former Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Razak has been found guilty on ine charge of abuse of power, among other charges still pending.
The court on Tuesday rule that Najib lawyers had failed to raise any reasonable objection on a charge of abuse of power in the first graft trial linked to scandal-tainted state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
The trial judge Mohamad Nazlan Mohamad Ghazali noted that Najib defense team failed in “rebutting the presumption on the balance of probabilites or raising reasonable doubt” on the charge of abuse of power.
Najib also faces other six charges of criminal breach of trust, money laundering and abuse of power for allegedly illegally receiving nearly $10 million from former 1MDB unit SRC International. He had plead not guilty.
