N1.3bn State House Clinic budget, enough to stop President Buhari’s Medical trips abroad – Senate

The Senate today call on State House officials to do all within their power to stop President Muhammadu Buhari from further medical trip.

The call was made by Senator Danjuma La’ah (PDP, Kaduna South), when the State House Permanent Secretary, Tijani Umar, appeared before the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Intergovernmental Affairs to defend his 2021 budget estimates put at N19.7bn, out of which N1.3bn was proposed for the State House Clinic.

La’ah who is the chairman of the Senate Committee, noted that, President Buhari and other top officials of his government should no longer be flown abroad for medical treatment.

“Rather than allow President Buhari to jet out to seek medical attention and treatment, the government and state house officials should this year, put the State House Clinic in order for such purposes,” He added.

While assuring the Permanent Secretary of the readiness of the Senate to pass the budget, he also insisted on the need for President and other top officials of his government to refrain from further overseas trips for medical treatment.
