Stoke City sets to sign John Mikel Obi on a one-year deal

Championship side, Stoke City are set to sign former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi on a one-year deal.

According to BBC source, the former Nigeria skipper, 33, is a free agent after leaving Turkish side Trabzonspor by mutual consent in March.

Mikel featured in 249 Premier League appearances for Chelsea in an 11-year spell, before leaving in 2017. He won several trophies for the Blues; the Champions League, Europa League, two Premier Leagues, three FA Cups and the League Cup.

Mikel also made 89 appearances for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, playing in two World Cups and helping the Super Eagles win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
