WTO Director-General: President Buhari assures Okonjo-Iweala of total support

Ahead of the final selection of the next Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of the his administration total support to ensuring she becomes the next Director General.

This follows a visit by the DG candidate and former Nigeria Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to the President at the State House, Abuja yesterday.

According to President Buhari during the visit;

“We will do all that we can to ensure that Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala emerges as the Director-General of the WTO. She deserves this. I will continue to seek support from world leaders on her behalf. Whatever phone calls need to be made, whatever letters need to be sent, I will do it.”
