WTO sets to announce Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of Nigeria as DG

The World Trade Organisation is set to announce Nigeria’s Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as next Director General.

This was disclosed by WTO spokesperson, Keith Rockwell, who summed up the announcement by General Council Chair, David Walker.

Earlier today, the General Council Chair, David Walker, has reported on the results of the consultations to appoint the next WTO DG.

After the meeting WTO spokesperson Keith Rockwell summed up the announcement by GC Chair Walker: “The candidate that had the best chance of attaining a consensus of the membership is Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of Nigeria. Consultations on the way fwd will start immediately”, he said
